August 14, 2014

ASUS said that it is still on track to ship 7 million to 8 million smartphones this year despite the fact that the 1 million smartphones it shipped in the second quarter was below its target of 1.5 million, reported United Daily News on August 13. The company's smartphone business is expected to reach the break-even point in the third quarter, with shipments swelling to 2.8 million units—a 1.6-fold growth sequentially. ASUS has launched smartphones in 11 markets around the world, including Southeast Asia, China, India, Russia, and Turkey. 4G-capable models represent around 10% of its shipments this year and will top over 50% in 2015.
